Editorial shoot – Georgina

For this shoot I wanted to focus on some bright makeup colours to coordinate with the backdrop. I used my classmate for this shoot as she had long hair for me to style for the shoot as well as accessibility to the studio rooms at my university. Collaborating with Georgina, was so much fun especially since we brought two outfits for another shoot I had planned for the same day. I wanted a vibrant backdrop so there was some comparison and versatility in my portfolio. I wanted to experiment on a more mature model, to show that I am able to work on different skin types.

The set up was complex as we had the backdrop and a halo light in the back to act as a ring of light for the models head. We also had a big soft box and a reflector so the light could bounce evenly on the models face.

I wanted to edit the pictures as I felt I could show my editing skills in my portfolio as one of my strengths. Using photoshop I was able to soften certain areas of the models face, as well as get an even contrast through the image so the composition was soft on the viewers eye. I fully enjoyed doing this shoot,as I got to style hair like they would for ECom shoots. Showing my contemporary hairdressing skills has worked well in my favour as the pictures turned out really good. Including a contemporary feel in my work makes it current and fresh. Experimenting with bright backdrops also helped as I feel it would attract the viewers eye when viewing my portfolio. My conclusion for this shoot is that it went as I expected meaning I trusted my instincts and managed to get what I envisioned.
