For this shoot I was approached by a photographer on Instagram that really liked my work. The theme was valentines so everyone was to wear romantic colours for the shoot which was ideal since I could theme the makeup with what the models where wearing. Unfortunately I ended up having the least favourite of models so I had to work with what I had. Being able to adapt to the requirements of the shoot I had the opportunity to also work on Ellie as a model which will end up in my Portfolio.
One of the models shared the same vision as me which was high fashion editorial makeup and wanted something along those lines. She was fantastic to network with and I was able to have a good shot of her posing.

Evaluation: By doing this shoot, I was able to explore different skin tones and face shapes.Working with Ellie, I was able to plan what type of makeup look would suit her facial structure the most. Having to work fast I had to keep on track with pleasing the shoot director and photographers needs. Being able to keep within the time restraints of 30 minutes was doable which was enough time for me to do the makeup look with 5 minutes to spare. Talking to the photographers I was able to collaborate my ideas and concepts as they were very open minded with working with artists of different mediums. I didn’t need to touch up Elli’s face which was good because that allowed the photographers to take more time with the shoot. The overall experience with the Valentine’s Shoot, was a good experience especially as I was able to network with other photographers models at the shoot. I feel this shoot had some interesting compositions in which would be nice to include in my overall portfolio I’m happy that there is an edgy feel to this contemporary take on Valentine’s Day.
My plan of action is to keep experimenting with colour theory and texture in my work so it’s more versatile for industry professionals to see.
